I got a chance to check out both the Amazfit and Fitbit for a demo at my gym and I was surprised at how amazing these devices are and how they can help me achieve my fitness goals.

Amazfit supports a lot of features like a Fitbit when it comes to monitoring your fitness, sleep, and health. What really sets these guys apart is the price range they come in.
For the past few years, Amazfit has stood out as a brilliant alternative when compared to Fitbit. They provide a range of devices that have amazing functionality with an affordable price tag.
After spending a good amount of time with the devices made by both the brands trying to understand their weakness and strengths along the way. I’ve broken down how these two brands compare with each other to help you decide the right fitness smartwatch for you.

If you’re planning on spending a good amount of money on a Fitbit or Amazfit Smartwatch, There are quite a few watches that you can look up. You have the sleek and bold GTS 2 and GTR 2 which is the same as GTS 2 only difference is it has a round screen.
From Fitbit, Verse 3 provides excellent competition to the GTS 2 and GTR 2 In terms of price and functionality. Then we have the latest edition from Fitbit that is a sense which is quite expensive and is the best Fitbit has to offer at the moment.
If you want decent fitness tracking features on a smart sleek-looking smartwatch body, the lower-priced GTR2 and GTS2 will definitely fit in your budget. If you’re looking for a classy build with a more fully-formed look, Verse 3 and Sense should be your choice but for a higher price.
GTS 2/ GTR 2
The Amazfit GTS 2 design has been taken inspiration from the Apple Watch, by giving it a slim body with a rectangular metal frame that houses a high-quality 1.65 inch AMOLED touch screen display.
The GTS2 houses a round screen which also comes in a metal case with a similar AMOLED high-quality display. Both the watches are well designed to match the waterproofing levels of the Versa 3 and the Sense but what makes the Amazfit GTS2 and GTR2 stand is the addition to open water swimming which Fitbit’s watches cannot do.
Amazfit GTS 2 commits a battery life that can last 7 days and the GTR2 can offer double that. In general use, the battery lasts much longer.
Both the Amazfit watches offer 15 exercise modes with GPS and a built-in optical heart rate sensor.
It supports smartwatch features like modular watch faces, music playback control, event calendar and notification alert.
A built-in music player is installed so you can play your music even if you are not connected to your phone.
One of the most unique features of both watches is the voice assistant support that offers hands-offer control to the main features of the device like sports tracking and music when you are offline.
Versa 3 and Sense
The Versa 3 was launched recently and has new and improved features like their new heart rate monitoring sensor technology, an upgraded built-in GPS tracking system that works excellent when tracking long-distance sports.
One of the new features added is the additional smart assistant that supports something very similar to the Google Assistant that will allow you to take calls via Bluetooth with the smartwatch.
The Versa 3 has quite a sleek and slim design with a square body that is waterproof for up to 50 meters, It is an excellent choice for swimmers to maintain their swimming schedules and to track their swimming goals.
The Versa 3 stands out for its proficient tracking when it comes to fitness tracking, sleep monitoring, and women’s health monitoring. It offers over 15 exercise modes and also includes a Fitbit automatic exercise tracking recognition that is built into the device.
The Versa 3 and Sense both provide a battery life of almost a week that make up for the battery life with a quick charge feature where the watch can last a day with only 12 mins of charge.
It features a built-in music player so you do not have to connect your phone to your speakers when running and performing your fitness activities. it also includes a notification so you do not have to reach for your phone when you are running and doing your workout.
The Fitbit Sense gives you all the features that the Versa 3 offers, for the extra money it gives you excellent health monitoring features like a sensor that provides medical standard heart rate and measurement results, it can also monitor body temperature during sleep.

Design and Build Quality
Amazfit GTS 2
The GTS 2 is subtle compared to the overhauled GTR2 but can look the same to the untrained eye. It has a strong and light aluminium body rather than a plastic body giving it a solid feel around your wrist.
A rotating crown adds to the design but is not functional for any features the watch has to offer. The 348 x 442 vibrant and alluring AMOLED display looks stunning on the watch with a 341 PPI density.
A 20mm rubber strap provides a comfortable fit on the wrist and goes well with most sport attires keeping it simple, clean, and fashionable. If you like minimal design with excellent features the Amazfit GTS 2 is just that.
Amazfit GTR 2
The Amazfit GTR 2 has come a long way from the previous versions and has adopted a 47mm model with a sleek and niche design. The sports edition comes in a strong aluminium case and the classic has a stainless steel case that you can get for an extra $20.
The case is attached with a leather or silicone 22mm strap that you can choose as per your comfort with a pin mechanism to interchange among them.
The leather strap looks great on business casuals and formal attire and the silicon felt comfortable for everyday use and exercise.
A ceramic bezel highlights the GTR 2 vibrant screen which is, without doubt, one of the best displays I’ve seen on a smartwatch. It houses a 1.39 inch AMOLED touchscreen display that offers excellent viewing angles with sharpness and clarity.
There are two physical buttons that are used to navigate to the main menu of the watch and can also behave as a shortcut to your health tracking apps. The body is completely waterproof for up to 50 meters which is perfect if you’re a swimmer and would like to track your daily progress.
Fitbit Versa 3
The Versa 3 has owned the square watch look with curved edges and glass display that I feel gets its inspiration from the Apple Watch.
It comes with three different colour case variants to choose from which is complemented by a wide range of leather bands to go with.
With the increase in size compared to the previous version Amazfit used the opportunity to house a bigger 1.58-inch AMOLED display that provides excellent clarity, sharpness and viewing angles.
So now to the one thing we don’t really like about the Versa 3’s design. The missing button. Fitbit ditched the physical button it used previous Versas for something far more discreet.
It has a large 40mm sized thick casing that provides a solid feel and looks of a modern smartwatch. It has a waterproof body that can hold its own up to 50 meter’s depth.
Fitbit Sense
Sense has the same outer body case as the Fitbit Verse 3, which houses a large-high-quality 1.58-inch display. The 336×336 resolution provides vibrant, clear and crisp clarity that does look somewhat cramped into a 40.5mm casing.
With the quick-change straps, you can easily interchange them for a customised look to go anything you are wearing into work or leisure.
It has one single physical button on the left bezel that is used to navigate to the home screen which is a put down for the design.
Winner: GTR 2 is the winner for its classy design and outer steel casing that provides a solid feel and look to the watch when compared to the others. It does feel the most sturdy among the lot, the easy pin mechanism to interchange bands help suit the watch to my daily attire better, be it casual or business formals.
Screen Quality
Amazfit GTS 2 – It has a vibrant 348 x 442 AMOLED display with a 341 PPI density, definitely one of the best screens that you can get in that price range of smartwatches.
Amazfit GTR 2 – it has a 1,39-inch screen which is much larger than the GTS 2 screen making it more likeable by men than women. The 454 x 454 AMOLED touchscreen display provides crisp, clean and sharp images with multiple viewing angles that are visible even under direct sunlight.
Fitbit Versa 3 – it has a 1.58-inch AMOLED display with 336 x 336 resolution which is much bigger than the Amazfit GT series but lacks in terms of clarity because of the drop in resolution.
But it is a big improvement compared to its previous version.
Fitbit Sense – It has a large 1.58-inch display the same size as the Versa 3 that is housed in a 40.5mm case. It offers a 336 x 336 resolution, which is better than Versa 3 and can be viewed from multiple angles.
Winner: It’s a tie between Amazfit GTR 2 and Fitbit Sense. Here’s why Amazfit offers a smaller display compared to the Fitbit series but makes it up with a higher resolution rate of 454 x 454 that adds to a clean crisp viewing experience.
If the size doesn’t matter to you, Amazfit GTR2 is the winner for clarity. If you prefer a bigger screen the senses 1.58-inch display should do the job for you if you don’t mind the drop in clarity.

Battery
GTS 2 – Amazfit claims the device provides 20 days of basic use with everything turned off. I found that with all the applications on it lasts for three full days.
GTR 2 – it has a 471 mAh that takes about 2.5 hours for a full charge that gives you 14 days for normal daily. If you keep things simple and basic it can last up to 38 days, with all the features on throughout it can last 14 days.
Fitbit Versa 3 – Fitbit commits for 6-day battery life with all of its functions on. The new feature added to this version of Versa is the fast charging that gives you a full day’s battery life from 12 mins of charge.
Fitbit Sense – Fitbit commits 6+ days of battery life with all function On for 24/7 including SpO2 checks at night.
Winner – The Fitbit Sense wins this because of its fast-charge function, even if the battery life after a charge is less if it can charge in 12 mins to 40% from 2% is pretty worth it according to me.
If you spend time away from the city the GTR 2 is for you as it can last 14 days without a charge with GPS and normal use.
Amazfit App Vs Fitbit App
It’s safe to say that both brands are neck to neck with their physical and hardware attributes but what’s hardware if it doesn’t have sturdy apps to support the watches functionality.
Fitbit app
The companion app of Fitbit available on all smartphones and also as a web app. Fitbit flaunts the design and stability of its app, it is user friendly and is clutter-free making it easy to get your workout data. The app also connected you to your friends and communities to share your fitness progress.
Zepp App formerly known as Amazfit
Zepp app acts as the place to keep a track of your health and fitness data and also to check your fitness activities like walking, running and cycling. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to download apps and watch face depends on the device you are using.
Winner: Without Doubt, Fitbits App wins for its stability and overall user-friendly interface.
Amazfit Vs Fitbit: Fitness Tracking
Heart Health –
Both the brands offer excellent heart rate based info using an optical light-based sensor.
Fitbit is set to launch its medical-grade ECG sensor which is due in October which is a feature only the latest Apple watches have at present.
Both brands have commendable heart rate sensor technology that can help detect signs of heart diseases.
Amazfit does an excellent job of tracking your fitness during sports with its VO2 MAX, PAI Health Score and Training Load.
Winner: Tie (Amazfit is excellent for fitness tracking during sports and Fitbit is excellent for daily fitness tracking)
Fitness tracking –
Both brands offer the option to view steps, ideal, and distance through their own motion sensor setup. None of the data from the two devices can be identical but the most accurate was given by Fitbit.
Winner: Fitbit for having better motion sensors to provide accurate data.
Fitbit vs Amazfit: Sleep Tracking
Fitbit makes it simple and convenient to analyze the components of your sleep making it easy for you to understand, it also offers more insight than Amazfit.
Winner: Fitbit they are far ahead of Amazfit with their data analysis and algorithms that simply outshines Amazfit.
Women’s Health Tracking
Fitbit steals the show again by offering excellent features that focus on women’s health. It has the ability to keep tabs and show the fertility and menstrual cycles of the woman’s body with the help of the Fitbit phone app.
Amazfit also introduced the feature to their new series to track and predict menstrual cycles by sending notifications on your phone.
Winner: Fitbit for detailed analysis
Fitbit vs Amazfit: Sports tracking
Swimming –
Fitbit and Amazfit both offer excellent waterproof watches but Fitbits watches are only pool friendly and cannot be used when tracking swimming in rivers or open waters. Whereas the Amazfit series of waterproof smartwatches can descend to a depth of 50 meters and can be used while swimming in open water to track your body.
Winner: Amazfit
Tracking Workouts with GPS –
Amazfit stands out for its GPS tracking while working out thanks to its built-in GPS system. Also, it can track your workout while swimming, giving more accurate results when compared to Fitbit as it uses motion sensors to track when using the pool.
Winner: Amazfit (Built-in GPS tracks better than Fitbit
Tracking Heart Rate During Workouts –
Both platforms provide excellent heart rate tracking data during workouts. Fitbit wearables provide heart rate monitoring. You can work to specific heart rate zones and also check heart rate while resting to analyse your fitness level. It also provides a cardio fitness score that is related to VO2 MAX. Amazfit also offers the same insights while working out with additional insight on VO2 MAX from the Zepp App.
Winner: Tie (Both Offer the same level of accuracy when it comes to heart rate monitoring during workouts.)
Amazfit Vs FitBit: Verdict
Fitbit is our winner as the brand currently provides better fitness tracking results when compared to Amazfit. It has multiple apps that can help you live a healthier life and monitor it as well.
It can easily connect to all smartphones and has very few compatibility issues. It has a user-friendly interface that is easy to understand and operate.

Amazfit is not far behind for a new contender to level up with a brand like Fitbit is quite something else. It’s just a matter of time to see who out tracks the other.
Who is Amazfit for?
Amazfit was clearly designed for the outdoor enthusiast as all their watches have a sturdy build and feel to handle the outdoors.
Their GPS tracking is way better than Fitbit and can last 14 days with GPS on, perfect for long treks without a power source.
It is also ideal for swimmers as the GPS tracking is still active when using it in a pool or open water, unlike Fitbit that uses motion sensors to calculate swimming, where results can be inaccurate.
