The first seller I had the pleasure of working with was the Vehimach store. They are based in China and have only recently opened a store on AliExpress.
While they do tend to focus more on internal and external accessories for cars, they have quite a number of high quality PU leather car seat covers that are cheap and affordable.
Their seat covers start at around $10 for a piece and can go all the way up to $50 for a complete set of 5 PU leather seat covers.
Each cover is carefully crafted and they make sure to use silica gel particles at the base to improve skid resistance. The wrap-around design also helped keep my car seat protected from any spills or water damage.
Another reason why I liked dealing with Vehimach is because they use a blend of bamboo charcoal along with the PU leather to make them breathable and it’s not like regular PU leather that’s hard and uneasy to sit on regardless of the weather.

Awesome for You is another seller on AliExpress that I quite liked. They are professional and pretty popular with over 7 years of experience in the automobile market.
They specialize in all kinds of car accessories including interior and exterior fittings as well as car seats and faux leather seat covers for all types of cars.
I was able to get my hands on a couple of their seat covers and felt that each one was made with a level of craftsmanship that I haven’t seen in quite some time. The PU leather covers were sewn well and upon closer inspection they did not look like faux leather, but had a similar appearance to genuine leather.
Another thing that stood out to me is that their seat covers are designed in such a way that they can fit almost all cars and SUVs, so they can ultimately be swapped between cars in case you plan to upgrade or buy a new car.
Also, getting a response from them is something I never had to worry about as they would generally revert back to me within 24 hours and the free shipping on all orders is a godsend because I can now buy in bulk and not worry about spending huge sums of money only on shipping.

What is PU Leather?
PU leather or synthetic leather is a type of material that’s made from polyurethane, a type of plastic with similar characteristics as leather, sans any involvement with animals. Due to this nature, this leather is widely regarded as Vegan leather.
PU leather is made by applying a layer or plastic polyurethane over a polyester fiber base that gives it the texture and feel of leather. There’s also a certain type of leather called “double-cast leather” which is when PU leather is layered over real leather.
While PU leather is lightweight, cheaper and easy to maintain, the only drawbacks are that it’s not as durable, breathable and will retain the same level of uniformity over the course of its lifetime. Also, when PU leather is left out in the sun for too long, it tends to get hot and can feel sticky to sit on.
How to tell the difference between real leather and PU leather?
Most leather products including leather car seat covers have labels that tell us what material they are made of including the wash care and blends if any. Faux leather goods do not have this tag and it’s one way sellers are able to push PU leather products as genuine leather.
Another way to distinguish between the two is by performing a smell test. Real leather has a unique and leathery smell to it whereas PU leather has a chemical like plastic smell. However, with time the smell of PU leather fades and it’s difficult to tell whether the product is made from genuine leather or PU leather after a certain point in time.
You can also tell if the leather is real or not by feeling the texture on it. Though they both look quite similar, you will be able to tell the difference by closely examining the texturing on both types of leather side-by-side. Genuine leather is slightly raised and is not uniform throughout, whereas PU leather feels different and has less prominent bumps or grooves.
Finally, if you truly want to check if the leather is real or if it’s synthetic, you can try the water test. Real leather is made from animal hide and can absorb water quite well. Faux leather on the other hand is synthetic and water resistant, so water will stay stagnant on the top until it’s wiped away.

When it comes to maintaining and cleaning stains on PU leather seats, I have an easy to use remedy that I follow which you can try. It involves using a gentle detergent to clean any muck or grime from the seat covers.
- In a spray bottle mix a tablespoon of detergent and top it off with some tap water.
- Shake the bottle vigorously until the mixture has blended well.
- Spray some of the solution on a clean cloth or towel and wipe away the stain.
- If the stain doesn’t come off, apply a bit more pressure, but don’t use a stronger cleaning solution as that can damage the fake leather.
Does PU Leather Peel and Crack?
Yes, since PU leather is artificial, it’s subject to wear and tear which means that it can peel or chip away over a period of time. Real leather on the other hand does not chip, peel or flake away and will only fade with time depending on your use of the leather.
