Best Electric Unicycle 2021

“The bicycle electric unicycle is a simple solution to some of the world’s most complicated problems”
                -Unknown

Unicycles might not be as popular as eBikes especially Chinese ebikes, but they’ve had their limelight throughout history.

The unicycle became popular among street performers, circuses in the early 80s. In recent years, unicycles have also been used in mountain unicycling (similar to mountain biking or trials).

An electric unicycle (‘EUC,’ sometimes pronounced ‘yuke’) is a self-balancing unicycle. The rider controls speed by leaning forwards or backward and steers by leaning and twisting the unit side to side with their feet.

The initial EUCs were first based on Segway’s self-balancing vehicle concept. Some inventors expanded on this concept and created an electric unicycle based on the classic unicycle design with seats etc. In 2011, Shane Chen/Solowheel took away the seat and made the modern form factor with the folding side pedals and no seat/standing rider. In 2011, the first EUC was commercially available.

Since 2016, the EUC has evolved with added features like Bluetooth support, improved motor, better battery, LED lamps, etc. Most EUCs also have their own apps with features like setting speed limits, toggle lights, activating horn. Few 3rd party apps can also be configured with your EUC to check the speed, battery level, motor load, and energy efficiency.

The following EUCs are the best in terms of performance and stability in the market

Before buying any EUC, please make sure that the following things meet your criteria :

  1. Cost
  2. Performance
  3. Maintenance
  4. Safety Features
  5. Additional Features

To summarize, EUCs are better alternatives to electric scooters and skateboards. With their compact sizes and performances, these are best suitable for all everyday tasks. And because they’re electric, you will be doing your part in helping nature too.  Few of the above-mentioned EUCs are also best for rougher terrains so that you can let your inner wanderer out. Just make sure you’re wearing a helmet and other necessary equipment.
The flying cars from “Back to the Future” might still be a few years away but these futuristic vehicles have come a long way and as they have tested for safety and stability, they will definitely be here for a long time.
